Something to shout about; We’re finalists in the 2019 Bett Awards!
Mable have been listed as a finalist at the 2019 BETT Awards for our unique contribution to Special Education Needs Solutions (SENS).
This year in January, the Mable team will be attending the annual BETT awards as finalists in the Special Education Needs Solutions (SENS) category. The BETT awards, now in its 21st year, aims to recognise unique creativity in businesses and products that specialise in accommodating to the important factors surrounding SENS.
The criteria aims to award the product that delivers educational technology to support special learning needs, effective flexibility for teachers, and also provides engaging and inclusive learning. Mable’s nomination follows the success of the innovative, gamification of speech and language therapy in schools; providing specialist support for children with Speech, Language and Communication Needs (SLCN) and Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH).
The Mable Product
Mable was originally developed to provide clinically researched Speech and Language Therapy with effective results, accessible in any school. Mable’s most unique and captivating features which prompted the recognition from BETT, is the programme’s bespoke, gamification video technology that works to support those affected by SENS.
Our programme provides interactive, fun, motivating therapy in the form of games and modules. Mable operates with unique features, such as one on one activities for both the therapist and the pupil, to create a feeling of inclusion. Recognition and incentives are also encouraged throughout the child’s therapy sessions as personalised targets are made by the Speech Therapists, which the child is then awarded a certificate for, when the module is successfully completed.
Thinking of Solutions
A distinct part of the criteria for SENS, is the flexibility for teachers. A product that can assist, and provide solutions to current difficulties that people with special education needs face. In amongst Mable’s vision for Speech and Language, is a desire to create successful therapy for a child, whilst also considering accessibility, inclusion and flexibility for all parties. That being the child, the teachers and the parents.
Mable carefully developed features such as online therapy session reports to teachers and parents, to monitor the child’s progress; highlighting areas to work on, as well as areas of success. Additionally, Mable also offers teachers and parents the ability to join video sessions, to witness their development and help the child’s communication in between sessions. This encourages therapy to remain consistent and progressive. For Mable, working in this way has proved to be more involving, accessible and engaging for pupils, and a way to provide organised and consistent online learning for Children, regardless of their location.
Our nomination adds to a growing list of accomplishments for Mable, including being awarded joint winner of the SLCN Innovation Award at the 2017 Shine a Light Awards.
The Bett Awards are Britain’s biggest event for education and technology, with other nominees such as Microsoft and BBC!
