Low Mood Pathway
We can all suffer with low mood at times, but if a student’s behaviour has changed and they seem to be low more frequently, they may need additional help. Early support can help to prevent clinical depression or generalise anxiety disorder.
On this pathway our counsellors will use solution-focused techniques to help the student explore the root of their low mood and reframe any negative thoughts. They’ll work on building resilience and self-esteem so they will feel more positive and able to cope with adversity.

6 sessions delivered weekly
Prerequisites
None required
Referral Criteria
Has had any of the following symptoms for less than 6 months:

Is withdrawn or sad

Is irritable or struggling to regulate emotions

Is engaging less with hobbies and social life

Changes in sleep routine or eating

Explore the root of the low mood

Recognise triggers and develop coping strategies

Solution-focused techniques to change unhelpful behaviours or thought patterns
